HACKENSACK, NJ — According to http://tapinto.net local firefighters received a $278,322 federal grant to provide state-of-the-art swift water and boat training to help respond and rescue people during flooding emergencies.
“The Fire Department will utilize the funding from the AFG grant to increase the level of water rescue training and equipment for our members. Firefighters will be trained from the classroom to the fast-moving waters of the Delaware River,” said Hackensack Fire Department Chief Anthony Riehl. “In short, this training will be crucial when called for assistance to those in need, all while minimizing the financial burden to the city. We are all aware how important training for firefighters can be. With the help of the AFG grant, the support from Congressman Gottheimer along with the City of Hackensack, enhancing the skills and emergency readiness for mitigating water-related emergencies has never been closer.”
