As reported by https://www.northjersey.com/ more than 200 volunteers from Kol Dorot, a Reform Jewish temple and school in Bergen County, gathered Sunday to prepare more than 20,000 meal kits for people experiencing emergencies around the world.
The event, held in conjunction with the group Rise Against Hunger, began at 10 a.m. at Kol Dorot’s River Edge location at 385 Howland Ave. The army of volunteers included religious school students, ages 5 and up, as well as their friends, parents and relatives ranging up to senior citizens, Kol Dorot said in a statement.
Participants mixed and weighed meals of rice, soy, dehydrated vegetables and a micronutrient packet. These vegetarian meals are typically given out in schools and can be supplemented with locally available food and spices when they are distributed, Kol Dorot said.
