Oradell Reservoir will open to the public June 7 for canoeing, kayaking, fishing

According to northjersey.com, The Oradell Reservoir will be open to the public for canoeing, kayaking and fishing on June 7.

The annual event is in partnership with Veolia Water and the Hackensack Riverkeeper from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the reservoir, which is located past the Veolia Treatment Plant at 200 Lake Shore Drive.

The event is a fundraiser, and all of the proceeds benefit the Hackensack Riverkeeper and its programs. The morning activities consist of 5K and 10K kayak races, a corporate challenge kayak race among local companies, a mayor’s race and a fishing challenge for young kids. 

The June 7 open reservoir is the first of a three-part reservoir series for the summer of 2025. The other events are Lake Deforest Day on June 28 and Lake Tappan Paddle Day on Aug. 2.Veolia partners with the Hackensack Riverkeeper for this event. Proceeds of kayak rentals go to the Riverkeeper, a nonprofit organization that works to protect and restore the Hackensack River watershed.
